2025 recipients: Louis Julig, Oscar White
Louis Julig
I’m grateful to be the recipient of this funding. It is a long and expensive process to become a full ski guide. This award will go towards my CSGA 3 exam in the spring of 2026. This will be a highlight of my 10 + years of training during which I worked at Valhalla Powder Cats/Baldface Valhalla, Snowwater Heliskiing and Stellar Heli.
The west kootenay has been a wonderful place to explore and adventure in the great outdoors. Whitewater, Kootenay Pass and a plethora of local sled skiing haunts are such an incredible treasure. It’s no surprise that I fell in love with the backcountry and decided to pursue more outdoor education.
I’m lucky to have had excellent mentors and trainings and working experiences. I’m looking forward to many more years of guiding world class experiences for guests from near and far. Additionally, as a L3 graduate I would be eligible to join the teaching pool and start to give back the wisdom to the newcomers to this community of mechanized ski and snowboard guides.

Oscar White
Oscar successfully completed his CSGA Level 3 with the help of the Bluebird Day Foundation and is now living out his dream as a guide at various mechanized operations around BC. As a British kid growing up in central England, becoming a heli ski guide seemed like a complete pipe dream and he is incredibly grateful to be here living it now!
